Training Camps Program

The emphasis will be on technical footwork/handwork drills and tactics. There will also be a good deal of structured bouting, video analysis, specific and general conditioning, etc. These high intensity camps will provide an excellent opportunity for fencers to improve their competitive skills.

Camps Coaches

Mihai Covaliu, Olympic and World Champion, Head Coach of the Romanian National Team. Mihai's resume is extensive. He won multiple medals at the Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships, World Cups, etc. After winning his second Olympic medal in Beijing 2008 (he also won the gold in Sydney 2000), Mihai retired from competitive fencing. He is now the Head Coach of the Romanian National team. His students are the current Men's Sabre Team World Champions.

Mihai will be thrilled to share with our students his unique perspective on international fencing, as well as his insight on training for performance.

Nick Dinu, Coach, Laguna Fencing Center. Nick is a former member of the Romanian National Team. He was a Coach of the Romanian Olympic Junior Team.

Our coach Nick Dinu and Mihai Covaliu have had a very long relationship, going back to the first years of Mihai's fencing career, when Nick was his coach back in their native Romania.

Registration

A maximum of 20 fencers will be accepted for each of these sabre camps. The organizers reserve the right to exclude registration requests based on availability and experience. We must receive your registration request and payment no later than June 30, 2010. However, registration will close once the camp has reached capacity.

Fees

Sabre Camp (private sessions extra) - $450 for LFC members, $550 for non-members

Individual Private Lessons (20 minutes) - $25 for LFC members, $30 for non-members

Liability

All fencers must sign liability waivers prior to engaging in camp activities. If the fencer is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver for the fencer. If a parent or legal guardian will not be present at the start of the camp, arrangements can be made to provide them with a waiver in advance to be filled out and submitted by the fencer.
